EcoGRID establishes a connection between various data sources, cooperating organizations and webservices. The illustration below shows this interconnectedness. A range of organisations can store their data in databases forming the NDFF. Various webportals are used for this purpose. This collection of databases is accessible through EcoGRIDs virtual database.
The EcoGRID virtual database also provides access to environmental data. This information can be accessed directly using webservices. The data will also be modelled, agregated and interpolated to visualize the information using graphs or maps. These analytical steps take place within EcoGRID, and its results can be displayed through webservices as well. Clicking the segments of the model, you can navigate to specific explanation of each of its parts.
